Yone vs Kalista · Bot

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum

Kalista outranges you and pokes with spears, while you win by closing the gap with Q (Mortal Steel) and E (Soul Unbound) and trading short and sharp.

Levels 1-2

Kalista's range lets her poke and hop back. Stay out of Q (Pierce) lines behind minions and look for Q plus AA when she steps up to last hit.

Levels 3-5

Q (Mortal Steel) hits its second stack for the dash. Use E (Soul Unbound) to step in, trade, and return, but respect E (Rend) stacks on you.

Level 6+

R (Fate Sealed) gives you a gap-closing all-in, if it lands on both of them. Respect R (Fate's Call), which lets her support engage or save her.

Play it aggressive

Right after she throws Q (Pierce) or spends mana on E (Rend), you can step in with Q and look for a short trade.

When her Q is on cooldown and she walks up to last hit, hit Q, AA, and E to close the gap.

At level 6 with the wave near you, R (Fate Sealed) can catch both of them if they are in a line. Best when her R is spent.

Play it safe

When her Q is up and the wave is thin, you are an easy target. Hold back so a minion doesn't die to the spear and open the line.

When she has several spear stacks on you, back off before E (Rend) pops. Trading past that point costs a lot of health.

When her R (Fate's Call) is available, avoid a deep dive where a knockback could cancel your all-in.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Kalista Q — Pierce
Q · Pierce9 s

Long-range spear that goes through minions it kills, so it hits you behind the wave. Stay off the line or sidestep it, and don't clump behind minions.

Kalista E — Rend
E · Rend

Rend ramps up with stacked spears and slows you. Avoid eating many AAs and spears before she can pop it. Trade short, then step out of range.

Kalista R — Fate's Call
R · Fate's Call160 → 120 s

Fate's Call lets her support dash and knock enemies back. It can break your all-in or save her, so don't dive without checking if it's up.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
