How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum
Yone out-pokes you with a short-cooldown Q early, but once Q stuns him and W sticks, you win the close trades.
He has more reach and a Q you can't match in uptime. Take the poke, walk up with Q (Thundering Smash) when his Q is spent, and finish with W.
With E (Sky Splitter) in your kit you can slow him and shield yourself in one go. Trade right after he throws his Q or W and leave.
R (Stormbringer) gives you a gap-closer with a slow. His R can pull you out of position, so fight near your wave and away from his reach.
Play it aggressive
When his Q is on cooldown, step in with Q (Thundering Smash) for the stun, then W to mark and heal.
After he spends W on minions or air, use E on his feet for the slow and shield, then go in.
When he's pushed up near your tower, a stun plus W trade can run him out of the lane.
Play it safe
Early, don't walk up when his Q is ready. You eat the poke and he can chain it into the knock-up.
If his E (Soul Unbound) is active, don't chase. The damage he dealt comes back to him when it ends.
At level 6 on his side, don't over-extend with your wave. His R can catch you a long way from safety.
Their threats · Riot's cooldowns
Short-cooldown poke that stacks. Once he has two stacks, the next Q dashes and knocks you airborne. Count his hits and don't stand still on the third.
Cone damage that also shields him, more so if it hits more champions. Don't trade into it; wait for it to go out first, then commit.
He blinks behind you and pulls everything in the line toward him. Don't line up with allies or stack on your own wave in a lane he can hit.
