How the lane plays · Emerald – Diamond
Sylas has reach and sustain early; Yi wants a long melee fight with Meditate and Wuju Style. Keep trades short and don't let him get his rhythm.
Use Q (Chain Lash) to poke and shape the wave. Take short trades with a passive-charged AA, and leave before Yi's on-hit damage adds up.
With W and E online, you can trade in and out. Bait Yi's Q (Alpha Strike) and W (Meditate) first, then commit. Track both junglers when pushing.
R (Hijack) can steal Highlander, so his ult lets you fight and chase. If he ults first, expect slows to fail and play for the steal.
Play it aggressive
After he spends Q (Alpha Strike) on the wave or to dodge. Go in with E and W while his escape is down.
When W (Meditate) is down. Land Q, then AA with the passive charge and W to heal back the trade.
Push the wave when your jungler is nearby. Yi has to choose between wave and fight, and you can dive him.
Play it safe
When he has R up and you have no way out. Slow immunity and chase speed make failed trades costly.
In long melee brawls. E (Wuju Style) adds true damage to his AAs and Double Strike speeds up his trades.
When his jungler could arrive. Don't overextend on a pushed wave without vision. Yi dives fast with Q.

He is untargetable during it, so it dodges your W and E recast. Bait it with a poke, then commit after he spends it.
Meditate heals him and cuts damage taken. Don't dump your full combo into it. Wait it out, then re-engage.
Highlander gives him slow immunity and big attack speed. Q's slow won't hold him, so don't rely on it to kite. Disengage or trade before he activates.
