Sylas vs Bel'Veth · Top

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.22. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

How the lane plays · Emerald – Diamond

Sylas wants short, sustained trades through Q and W while Bel'Veth scales on attack speed stacks, so the lane is about punishing her cooldowns early and not letting her snowball.

Levels 1-2

Sylas has range with Q (Chain Lash) and a heal on W (Kingslayer). Trade when her W and Q are down, and keep the wave near your side.

Levels 3-5

With E (Abscond / Abduct) up you can hook in and go all-in, but a W (Above and Below) knockup can reverse it. Bait her W first, then commit.

Level 6+

R (Hijack) lets you take her ultimate or whatever the enemy jungler has. Her stacks make long fights risky, so aim to end trades quickly and tie them to wave states.

Play it aggressive

When her W is on cooldown, Q into W and AA with a Petricite charge. Heal back the damage and leave before she can respond.

After she uses E on a wave or in a trade, step in with Q and W. She is rooted and cannot dash away from you.

Push the wave into her tower with Q when your jungler is nearby. Then look for E on her to start a fight before she builds attack speed.

Play it safe

Early on, when her Q is up and your E is down, she can close in on you freely. Keep your distance and the wave in front of you.

Do not walk into long extended trades. Her passive stacks make each fight she wins more dangerous, and her damage ramps up as it goes on.

If her jungler shows up, her W knockup and dash can lock you down on your way out. Keep E to escape if you can.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Bel'Veth W — Above and Below
W · Above and Below12 → 8 s

Knockup and slow at long reach. It can punish an E hook or a greedy W lunge, so bait it with a minion-side step first.

Bel'Veth Q — Void Surge
Q · Void Surge4 → 1 s

Short-cooldown dash that gives her attack speed and lets her slip your Q and E follow-up. Expect her to dodge and re-engage, so don't rely on one Q landing.

Bel'Veth E — Royal Maelstrom
E · Royal Maelstrom24 → 12 s

Roots her in place while she gains lifesteal and damage reduction, hitting the lowest-health target. Don't stay in range at low health; back out of the storm or wait for it to end.

Your combo

Use Q first, W on the follow-up and AA to spend the passive, then E out or on a hit to finish when her W is down.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
