How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum
Kennen outranges you and pokes freely, but he has no real escape from E (Apprehend) once you close the gap, so lane is about reaching him cheaply.
Kennen's Q (Thundering Shuriken) pokes you at range. Hold a bit forward in the wave, trade with W (Crippling Strike) plus AA when he steps up to last hit.
With E (Apprehend) you can drag him off his range. Look for it after he spends Q or E (Lightning Rush), then stack Hemorrhage with AA and Q (Decimate).
R (Noxian Guillotine) gives you a kill threat on a stacked Kennen. Respect his R (Slicing Maelstrom) in all-ins, and keep your health healthy before committing.
Play it aggressive
After he whiffs Q (Thundering Shuriken) in lane, step in with E (Apprehend) and start stacking Hemorrhage while it is on cooldown.
When he walks up for a last hit, W (Crippling Strike) slows him and lets you stay on him for a few AA.
Push the wave to his tower when he is low on energy; he can't poke without Q or E, so you can force trades.
Play it safe
When his Q, W (Electrical Surge) and E are all ready, a full Mark stack can stun you. Avoid walking into his range then.
Do not fight in a thin wave at low health; his poke plus R (Slicing Maelstrom) can punish you.
If he has E ready, a failed approach just lets him dash away and poke you as you retreat.
Their threats · Riot's cooldowns
Long-range poke that also adds a Mark of the Storm. Stay behind minions when the wave is even so it gets blocked or he has to aim around them.
Fast dash through units that adds a Mark and lets him slip away or reposition. Do not chase blindly when he has it ready.
Storm hits all nearby champions and can complete the three Marks for a stun. Trade out of his range or keep your health high before fighting in it.
