How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum
Ahri wants to poke from range and land E (Charm) safely, while Akali wants to get inside, trade on energy and reset with W (Twilight Shroud).
Ahri outranges Akali by a lot. Look for Q (Orb of Deception) pokes on the wave. Akali's Q (Five Point Strike) is her main trade tool and costs a lot of energy.
Once you have E (Charm), a hit gives you a free trade. Akali's E (Shuriken Flip) can close the gap, so keep your E ready before you stand forward.
Both ults change the lane. Akali's R (Perfect Execution) can dive you quickly. Keep R (Spirit Rush) and E available for her, and avoid standing at the edge of her range.
Play it aggressive
When her Q is spent and her energy is low, poke with Q (Orb of Deception) and W (Fox-Fire) from range.
After E (Charm) lands, trade hard while she walks toward you. Add W and AA before she can react.
When she uses E (Shuriken Flip) badly or wastes W, walk up and trade while her escapes are down.
Play it safe
When she hits level 6 with R up, play near your wave and keep E ready. Don't stand alone at the edge of her range.
When she holds full energy and Q is ready, step out of range instead of eating a free slow and poke.
When your E is down, avoid standing near her. She can dive in with E or W and punish you with no answer.
Their threats · Riot's cooldowns
Short-cooldown slowing poke that hurts if you stand in range 550. Back out of range between casts and don't trade into a full energy bar.
Smoke makes her untargetable and hides her approach. Don't chase into it. Hold E for when she steps out to attack or use abilities.
Two-part leap and execute dive that punishes low health. Stay healthy, keep R (Spirit Rush) and E ready, and avoid trading when she has R.
