How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum
Smolder wants a safe, long stack-building lane; you want to trade in short bursts with W and E, then use Q to reposition or end fights.
Both have 550 range. Smolder's Q has a short cooldown and stacks with hits, so avoid free poke. Look for W (Venom Cask) into AA trades when his Q is down.
Get a few poison stacks with AA, then use E (Contaminate) to finish a trade. Smolder's Q keeps building stacks, so shorter trades usually suit you better.
R (Spray and Pray) gives you a strong fighting window, and Q (Ambush) helps you line up angles. Respect his R (MMOOOMMMM!) and the wave pressure it can create.
Play it aggressive
When his Q is on cooldown, use W (Venom Cask) to slow him, then AA to stack poison before trading.
After he misses W (Achooo!), step in with AA and E for a quick trade.
With R online, look for a fight when he's low or out of position, using Q to close in.
Play it safe
When Smolder has stacks and his Q is up, skip long even trades at 550 range.
If he reaches level 6 first, avoid fighting at low health or in the open.
When his E (Flap, Flap, Flap) is up, don't commit too far from your own wave with low health.

Fast, repeatable poke that gets stronger with stacks. Stay out of 550 range when you can, and trade right after he casts it.
Long-range skillshot that adds stacks if it hits. Walk off-line of the sneeze and don't stand still in the wave.
Global-range slow and damage zone. Check his level and mana, and don't sit in a bad spot at low health after he hits 6.
