How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum
Twitch wants short, sneaky trades and a late-game spike, while Smolder wants to poke you with Q spam and stack up safely, so early cooldown windows decide the lane.
Smolder's Q (Super Scorcher Breath) has a short cooldown and same range as your AA. Trade right after he uses it, and don't stand in the open.
Use W (Venom Cask) to slow and apply venom, then AA and E (Contaminate) when the stacks are worth it. Watch his W, which can hit you from far away.
Your R (Spray and Pray) makes all-ins stronger when your support engages. Smolder's R has huge range and can join fights, so keep your health up before skirmishes.
Play it aggressive
After he spends Q on minions or you, step up with W then AA while his poke is down.
When his W misses, you can walk forward and force a short trade with AA and E.
With R up and a support engage, you can look for a kill when he has no escape ready.
Play it safe
When his Q is ready and his stacks are up, avoid standing at AA range with no plan.
When your health is low, don't hold the lane against his W and Q poke, because chip damage adds up fast.
When his R is up and your team is grouped, play safer, since the slow can set up a follow-up.

Short cooldown poke that grows stronger with stacks. Stay out of its range when he has mana, and punish him after he casts it.
Long-range sneeze that explodes on champions and feeds his stacks. Walk off the line of fire and don't line up behind minions.
Global-range ult with a slow. Respect it when you're low and your team is grouped, since it can turn a fight with little warning.
