Tryndamere vs Sett · Top

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.22. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

The key

Don't get stunned: keep enemies from standing on both sides of him.

Sett E — Facebreaker
Watch · E · Facebreaker16 → 10 s

Stay out of range when something stands across him.

Your window

When his E is spent and his W shield is gone.

How the lane plays · Emerald – Diamond

Sett wins by landing Q, E and W in one burst; you win with range, W (Mocking Shout) and denying him cheap trades that feed his Grit.

Levels 1-2

You outrange his punches, so look for single auto-attack trades and build Fury. Respect his Q (Knuckle Down) walk-up. Don't feed Grit with long, even trades.

Levels 3-5

Once he has E (Facebreaker), fight where nothing sits on his far side. Use W (Mocking Shout) to cut his trade damage, then E (Spinning Slash) in. Set up wave states before jungle arrives.

Level 6+

R (Undying Rage) lets you commit through his burst, and his R (The Show Stopper) slows. Pick fights where his R is gone or yours is ready.

Play it aggressive

After he uses W (Haymaker) on a minion or a poke, dash in with E (Spinning Slash) and trade while his shield is gone.

When he is low, his passive regen is still no match for Q (Bloodlust). Chase with W (Mocking Shout) as he turns away.

When his E (Facebreaker) is down and his jungler is far, push the wave and force a short all-in.

Play it safe

When his E (Facebreaker) is ready and a wave puts a minion behind him, don't walk up and get stunned.

With a big Grit bar from earlier damage, skip chip trades. His W (Haymaker) is waiting.

When his jungler is near and your R (Undying Rage) is down, don't overextend a pushed wave.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Sett E — Facebreaker
E · Facebreaker16 → 10 s

Pulls from both sides and stuns, which ends your kiting. Stay out of his range when a minion or ally could be across him from you.

Sett W — Haymaker
W · Haymaker18 → 12 s

Stored damage becomes a shield and true damage. Don't tank long trades into him. Bait it early, step out of the center, then punish the empty shield.

Sett Q — Knuckle Down
Q · Knuckle Down9 → 5 s

Two empowered hits that scale with your max health, plus Move Speed toward you. Don't back away in a straight line. Fight him with W (Mocking Shout) ready.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
