Lulu vs Nautilus · Top

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

TopLulu vs NautilusIron – Silver
The key

Stay out of his hook line and poke from range.

Nautilus Q — Dredge Line
Watch · Q · Dredge Line14 → 10 s

Keep a minion between you and him.

Lulu Q — Glitterlance›AA›Lulu E — Help, Pix!
Your window

Right after he misses or wastes his hook.

How the lane plays · Iron – Silver

Lulu out-ranges Nautilus and wants a slow poke lane, but one missed Dredge Line hook lets him lock you down and burst you.

Levels 1-2

Use Q (Glitterlance) range to poke while he last-hits. Stay out of his Q range line and away from minions that block your dodge path.

Levels 3-5

With E (Help, Pix!) and W (Whimsy) online you can trade safely. Keep your distance and punish him when he wastes his hook on a minion.

Level 6+

His R (Depth Charge) chases you through minions, so spacing alone won't save you. Hold W (Whimsy) for his engage and R (Wild Growth) as your own escape.

Play it aggressive

After he wastes Q (Dredge Line) on a minion or misses, poke with Q (Glitterlance) and AA while the hook is down.

When he walks up to last-hit, hit him with Q (Glitterlance) for the slow, then trade with Pix procs from your AA.

When he is low on mana after spamming spells, you can lean on him and push the wave.

Play it safe

While his Q (Dredge Line) is up, don't stand in a straight line to him with no minion in between.

Don't chase him once he has W (Titan's Wrath) shield up. Your poke does little into it and you drift into his range.

Watch the map for his jungler. Being hooked far from your tower is how this lane gets lost.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Nautilus Q — Dredge Line
Q · Dredge Line14 → 10 s

Dredge Line pulls you into melee, starting his chain. Stay off the straight line to him, and keep minions between you so the anchor hits them instead.

Nautilus P — Staggering Blow
P · Staggering Blow

Staggering Blow roots you on his first attack. After a hook you can't walk away, so don't give him that first hit for free.

Nautilus R — Depth Charge
R · Depth Charge120 → 80 s

Depth Charge tracks you and knocks you up with a stun. Standing behind minions doesn't help, so keep W (Whimsy) ready and don't stand next to him.

Your combo

Lulu Q — Glitterlance›AA›Lulu E — Help, Pix!›AA

When he steps up to the wave: slow him with Q (Glitterlance), then AA and E (Help, Pix!) to proc Pix, then step back out.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
