Lulu vs Nautilus · Support

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

The key

Stay out of hook range; poke from max range behind minions.

Nautilus Q — Dredge Line
Watch · Q · Dredge Line14 → 10 s

Stay behind minions; keep W to cancel his follow-up.

Lulu Q — Glitterlance›AA›Lulu E — Help, Pix!
Your window

Right after he misses or wastes his hook.

How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum

Lulu outranges Nautilus and wins by poking and peeling, but one Dredge Line hit into his team can end the lane, so stay out of his hook line.

Levels 1-2

Look for Q (Glitterlance) pokes from max range and AA trades with Pix bolts. Stay behind minions so Q (Dredge Line) hits a minion first and stops.

Levels 3-5

Once you have E (Help, Pix!), you can shield your carry when Nautilus walks up. Nautilus has Q and E up often, so keep spacing between hooks.

Level 6+

R (Wild Growth) knocks up anyone who dives, and R (Depth Charge) locks your carry down. Hold your R and W for his engage, and keep your own R for the answer.

Play it aggressive

When his Q (Dredge Line) is on cooldown, step up and poke with Q (Glitterlance) plus AA so Pix bolts land.

When he walks up to last hit, look for Q then AA, and slow him so he can't trade back.

After he wastes a hook on a minion or into terrain, you can trade freely while his Q recovers.

Play it safe

When his Q (Dredge Line) is up and no minions block the line, stay at the edge of range and don't step forward.

At level 6 with his R available, avoid standing out of position without W (Whimsy) or R ready.

In brush or fog without vision, assume a hook is coming and keep your carry behind minions.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Nautilus Q — Dredge Line
Q · Dredge Line14 → 10 s

Pulls you or your carry into melee range, starting the all-in. Stand behind minions or off the straight line, and keep W (Whimsy) ready to answer it.

Nautilus R — Depth Charge
R · Depth Charge120 → 80 s

Chases one target and knocks up everything in its path, then stuns. Position away from your team's frontline, and use W (Whimsy) on him before it lands.

Nautilus P — Staggering Blow
P · Staggering Blow

His first AA roots you, which makes a follow-up Q or E easy to land. Don't let him walk into AA range for free; slow him with Q.

Your combo

Lulu Q — Glitterlance›AA›Lulu E — Help, Pix!

Poke at range when his Q is on cooldown: slow him, AA for Pix bolts, then E to damage or shield as needed.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
