Lulu vs Karma · Support

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

The key

Bait out Mantra, then slow or polymorph her.

Karma W — Focused Resolve
Watch · W · Focused Resolve12 s

Break the tether early; staying in it gets you rooted.

Lulu E — Help, Pix!›Lulu Q — Glitterlance›AA
Your window

Right after Karma spends Mantra on a missed Q.

How the lane plays · Emerald – Diamond

Poke and peel against poke and root: bait out Mantra, punish with slow or polymorph, and keep both junglers' timers in mind before trading.

Levels 1-2

Mantra is up from level 1, so Karma can open with an empowered poke or root. Trade with Q (Glitterlance) plus Pix AAs when she wastes it, and hold the wave even.

Levels 3-5

Both of you have shields, slows and roots. Slow push when your jungler is near so Karma has to give up wave to answer, then shove and crash for tempo.

Level 6+

R (Wild Growth) on your carry gives you the better answer to a Karma root engage. Fight when Mantra is down, and keep it ready for their dive.

Play it aggressive

When Karma spends Mantra on a missed Q or an early shield, step up with E (Help, Pix!) and Q and take the trade.

Slow push when your jungler is close. Karma has to choose between the wave and her carry, so look for a trade or a crash.

After Karma's Q or W lands on a minion, you can poke with Q and Pix AAs while her shield is still on cooldown.

Play it safe

When Mantra is up and the wave is on her side, an empowered root or Q can set up a bad trade. Stay out of range.

If their jungler is unseen and Karma's tether is out, respect the root. Keep your distance and your vision, and hold W for the follow-up.

Don't walk up into brush or fog without wards when Karma has E available. It makes their all-in faster and harder to escape.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Karma Q — Inner Flame
Q · Inner Flame9 → 5 s

Mantra Q leaves a delayed cataclysm after the first blast. Sidestep the first hit and leave the zone instead of standing still on the wave.

Karma W — Focused Resolve
W · Focused Resolve12 s

The tether reveals you and roots if you stay in it. Leave its range, or turn the fight with W (Whimsy), so it cannot set up a jungle gank.

Karma R — Mantra
R · Mantra40 → 34 s

Mantra upgrades her next ability. Watch whether she spends it on a Q poke, a root or a shield, because that decides how she plays the next fight.

Your combo

Lulu E — Help, Pix!›Lulu Q — Glitterlance›AA

Use it after Karma wastes Mantra on a miss or a shield. Pix jumps in, Q slows, and the AA triggers Pix's bolts.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
