Ahri vs Aatrox · Mid

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

MidAhri vs AatroxGold – Platinum
The key

Stay at range; Charm him when he dashes in.

Aatrox W — Infernal Chains
Watch · W · Infernal Chains18 → 12 s

Leave the chain circle fast, don't stand still.

Ahri E — Charm›Ahri Q — Orb of Deception›Ahri W — Fox-Fire

Right after he spends his Q or dash.

How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum

Ahri outranges Aatrox and wins by poking safely; he wins if he lands a hit and gets his heal going.

Levels 1-2

Poke with Q (Orb of Deception) from max range and stay outside his basic attack range. Avoid trading into his Q (The Darkin Blade) and his empowered attack.

Levels 3-5

With W and E online, look for a full trade right after he spends his Q or W. Keep E ready for his dash.

Level 6+

R (Spirit Rush) gives you an escape or a follow-up. His R (World Ender) boosts his healing and chase, so don't get caught while it's up.

Play it aggressive

When he uses his Q or W on the wave or misses you, step up and land E (Charm), then follow with Q and W.

Poke with Q whenever he walks up to last-hit; the orb hits him on the way out and back.

After he dashes away with E, he has no gap closer left, so you can trade with W and Q.

Play it safe

When he has his E and Q ready and you have Charm down, give ground and keep the wave near your side.

Don't stand in the wave within his reach if the minions would block your Charm.

After his R is active, avoid fighting him in close range; wait for a clear Charm.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Aatrox Q — The Darkin Blade
Q · The Darkin Blade14 → 6 s

Three swings, each with a different area. Don't walk into the swing's reach; sidestep it, and be careful when you're pinned near the wave.

Aatrox W — Infernal Chains
W · Infernal Chains18 → 12 s

Infernal Chains drags you back to the center if you linger. Move out of the circle quickly and don't use your dash first.

Aatrox E — Umbral Dash
E · Umbral Dash9 → 5 s

Umbral Dash closes the gap and heals him when he hits you. Your E (Charm) can stop the dash, so keep it ready.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
