Yasuo vs Malphite · Top

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

Dodge his Q, trade after his casts, never get caught without E.

After he spends Q or E, dash in and hit.

How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum

Malphite outranges you with Q and wants slow, safe trades. You have no costs, so you can win by dodging his key casts and dashing in right after.

Levels 1-2

His Q (Seismic Shard) reaches further than your Q. Don't stand in front of the wave with nothing to do; trade after he spends Q or E.

Levels 3-5

Once you have E (Sweeping Blade) up and a minion to dash through, you can dash in, land Q stacks and leave. Keep the wave fair or slightly near you.

Level 6+

His R (Unstoppable Force) makes his team's engage dangerous. Play near your wave and respect the all-in. Your R needs someone airborne, so look for his allies' knockups.

Play it aggressive

After he whiffs or spends Q, dash through a minion with E and start Q for stacks while he can't poke back.

When his mana looks low from spamming spells, take short trades: you have no costs, so he has to choose between casting and trading.

When his passive shield is already broken, trade with Q and AA and then walk out of range before it can recharge.

Play it safe

When his R is up and you're far from your wave, back off. A knockup in a bad spot costs far more than a lost minion.

When his W (Thunderclap) is active and he is next to you, don't stand and AA; the aftershocks add damage to each hit.

When your E has no minion or target to dash through, don't walk up into his Q and E range.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Malphite Q — Seismic Shard
Q · Seismic Shard8 s

Slows you by stealing move speed and extends his poke range. Step off the wave line, or use W (Wind Wall) if you can read it.

Malphite E — Ground Slam
E · Ground Slam7 s

Cuts your attack speed and hurts more as he stacks armor. Avoid melee trades right after it lands; your AA damage drops.

Malphite R — Unstoppable Force
R · Unstoppable Force130 → 100 s

Long-range knockup that can start a fight or pick you off. Stay near safe ground and don't push far up the lane with it available.

Use it with minions nearby: first Q stacks, E circle Q finishes the knockup. Leave right after his shield pops.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
