Kai'Sa vs Caitlyn · Top

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

The key

Dodge her trap and net, then close in with E.

Caitlyn W — Yordle Snap Trap
Watch · W · Yordle Snap Trap0.5 s

Never walk over unseen ground; traps pin you for free damage.

Your window

Right after she wastes Q or net.

How the lane plays · Gold – Platinum

Caitlyn outranges you by a wide margin, so you win by dodging her Q and traps, then closing with E and a full Plasma stack.

Levels 1-2

She out-pokes you with range 650 AA and Q. Stay out of her range, take small trades after she spends Q, and don't stand in the wave.

Levels 3-5

Get W and E online. W (Void Seeker) pokes safely from far, and E (Supercharge) lets you close and stack Plasma after her Q or E is down.

Level 6+

R (Killer Instinct) lets you dash onto her for a burst, but she can punish a bad entry with trap and net. Look for a clean kill.

Play it aggressive

After she fires Q or E and misses, use E (Supercharge) to close and stack Plasma with AAs before she resets.

When she has no traps ready and has just pushed, W (Void Seeker) her, then walk up and trade.

With R up and her net on cooldown, look to dash in once she is low or pinned on the wave.

Play it safe

When her trap is freshly placed under or next to you, back away before walking forward.

Don't walk up for AAs while her Q and E are both available.

Respect her long range when the wave is pushing toward you; she gets free pokes while you farm.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Caitlyn W — Yordle Snap Trap
W · Yordle Snap Trap0.5 s

Trap immobilizes you and sets up an empowered Headshot. Don't walk over unknown ground or chase into brush and wave edges; expect traps near where you stand.

Caitlyn Q — Piltover Peacemaker
Q · Piltover Peacemaker10 → 6 s

Long, slow-to-fire line shot that hurts a lot if you eat it. Sidestep after the rev-up, and stay off the line behind minions.

Caitlyn E — 90 Caliber Net
E · 90 Caliber Net16 → 8 s

Net slows you and knocks her back, then she Q's or traps you. Respect it when you're committing; the slow makes you easy to hit.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
