How the lane plays · Iron – Silver
Garen wants short, committed trades and Gwen wants to kite you with Q and E; the lane turns on who wastes a key ability first.
Gwen's Q (Snip Snip!) and passive out-poke you when you walk up for last hits. Use Q (Decisive Strike) to close in, then E (Judgment) while she is in range.
Gwen's E (Skip 'n Slash) gives her range and on-hit damage for a short trade. Wait for her to use it, then walk up with Q and AA.
Your R (Demacian Justice) can end a trade, so look for it when she is low. Her R (Needlework) slows you, but your Q breaks slows.
Play it aggressive
After she misses a full Q (Snip Snip!) or spends E (Skip 'n Slash), walk up with Q and fight while her key abilities are down.
When her W (Hallowed Mist) is on cooldown, you can commit to a trade without her being untargetable.
Push the wave when she's low on mana and she can't use abilities freely. Then a full trade with Q, AA and E is easier.
Play it safe
When her Q and E are both ready, don't walk up to last hit in a straight line. Take the farm you can safely reach.
Don't chase her through Hallowed Mist or past your own wave; she can turn and win a longer fight. Watch for the jungler too.
When her R (Needlework) is up, expect a slow, extra damage and a longer fight. Don't force an even trade.

Snip Snip! is a cone that hits you several times and heals her through her passive. Step out of the center and don't stand in a straight line.
Hallowed Mist blocks targeting from outside it. Don't chase her into it or wait outside it. Back off, or walk in only if you're committed to the fight.
Skip 'n Slash lets her dash in with more attack speed and range. Respect it when it is ready, and punish her when it's on cooldown.
