Aurora vs Akali · Mid

The lane in ten seconds, then the whole brief — written by our coach for your level, from Riot's own kits for patch 16.21. Every number checked against Riot's data. Options, never orders.

Written for

The same lane is not played the same way in Silver and in Diamond: pick your level, the advice changes. Signed in, Olymps opens on your rank. Coaching, not statistics — the abilities and Riot's cooldowns are the same at every level.

MidAurora vs AkaliEmerald – Diamond
The key

Stay at range; she needs E and R to reach you.

Akali R — Perfect Execution
Watch · R · Perfect Execution120 → 60 s

Keep W or R ready before she hits six.

Right after she spends her E or Q.

How the lane plays · Emerald – Diamond

Aurora has range and slows to keep Akali off her; Akali wins by closing with E and R, so the lane turns on spacing and cooldown trades.

Levels 1-2

Akali's energy limits her Q spam. Poke with Q (Twofold Hex) and recall the curse to hit twice, and keep the wave near your tower side so she can't trade freely.

Levels 3-5

With E (The Weirding) up you can punish her approach: slow, hop back, and Q. Slow push to set up a crash and a jungle-timed roam.

Level 6+

Akali's R (Perfect Execution) threatens a two-step execute. Aurora's R (Between Worlds) and W (Across the Veil) give you escapes, so keep one ready before you extend.

Play it aggressive

After she wastes E (Shuriken Flip) on a minion or misses, you can slow her with E and poke with Q to take a trade.

When she uses W (Twilight Shroud) to farm or hide, push the wave and take a crash or a roam timed to your jungler.

If she's low on energy after Q spam, you can step up and trade with AA and Q since she can't answer.

Play it safe

Respect level 6 while Akali has R up: stay near your tower and keep W or R available before standing at the front.

Don't step into her Q range with E and W both down, since she can chain Q into E and kill you.

When her jungler is near, avoid over-extending on a pushed wave: a gank plus her dashes can trap you.

Their threats · Riot's cooldowns

Akali R — Perfect Execution
R · Perfect Execution120 → 60 s

Two dashes: the first leap closes the gap, the recast executes. Keep W or your own R ready, and stay out of reach when low.

Akali E — Shuriken Flip
E · Shuriken Flip16 → 10 s

Shuriken marks a target or smoke, then she dashes in. Stand off the line so it misses, and hold E to slow her after the dash.

Akali W — Twilight Shroud
W · Twilight Shroud20 → 16 s

Smoke makes her untargetable and invisible, which resets fights. Don't chase into it; back off, since she has to attack or cast to be revealed.

How this is written

Our coach reads both kits exactly as Riot publishes them for the current patch — abilities, cooldowns, costs, ranges — and writes the lane for one level at a time: Iron – Silver, Gold – Platinum, Emerald – Diamond, Master+. Every number in the text is checked against Riot's data; a line that cites anything else is dropped. No win rates, no tier lists: coaching, not statistics.
