- The lobby is pre-configured and locked. Map, team size, pick type (tournament draft, blind…), and spectator policy are baked into the code. Nobody "accidentally" sets the wrong map or invites a sixth player — the code is the ruleset.
- Everyone lands in the same game by construction. No "which lobby?", no wrong-custom chaos, no Discord DM with a lobby name. If you have the code, you're in the right game.
- The result reports itself. When the game ends, the match outcome is delivered back to the tournament provider. This is the piece that changes everything: the winner isn't whoever posts a screenshot first — it's what the game itself says.
That third point is why platforms built on tournament codes can run brackets with no human referee: the code creates the lobby, the game reports the winner, the bracket advances. No screenshots, no disputes, no "I swear we won."
What the Code Locks (and Why That's the Point)

Path 1 — Apply to Riot directly. The Tournament API is available to registered tournament providers through Riot's developer program. It's real infrastructure with a real approval process: you apply, describe your product or event, and operate within Riot's policies. For a software team building a platform, this is the road.
